Broad based support for the dairy industryNational Dairy Shrine brings together dairy producers, scientists, students, educators, marketers and others who share a desire to preserve our dairy heritage and keep the dairy industry strong. Founded in 1949 by a small group of visionary dairy leaders, National Dairy Shrine now has over 17,000 members encompassing virtually every facet of the industry.

How National Dairy Shrine helps our industry
National Dairy Shrine annually provides more than $35,000 in awards and scholarships for college students, dairy producers and industry leaders. Funds for these scholarships come from membership fees, interest on a $1 million endowment fund, and voluntary contributions. National Dairy Shrine also provides financial support for World Dairy Expo and National 4-H Dairy Conference.
Social events sponsored by National Dairy Shrine include an annual awards banquet held at World Dairy Expo and receptions at regional dairy industry events. These provide a network for students as well as for active dairy industry participants.
The National Dairy Shrine Visitors' Center in Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin, showcases the past, present and future of the dairy industry, and houses the organization's extensive collection of dairy artifacts and memorabilia.
A 21-member board of directors directs National Dairy Shrine activities and policies. Maurice Core, Executive Director, handles day-to-day operations with the help of part-time staff support at COBA/Select Sires in Columbus, Ohio. Even more important to the organization are National Dairy Shrine members who provide thousands of hours of volunteer time--from screening award applicants and writing newsletter articles, to leading tours at the Visitors' Center and organizing the annual banquet.
