National Dairy Shrine has issued a Membership Challenge to dairy companies, associations, and cooperatives to help recruit more members for the organization. Currently there are more than 18,500 dairy leaders among Dairy Shrine’s ranks, but the group also believes the staff and board members of many key dairy entities have not yet joined. The one-time, lifetime membership costs $50 and it makes a tremendous difference in the lives of many people. Last year alone, National Dairy Shrine awarded more than $31,000 in scholarships to young people. In addition, NDS preserves dairy history, honors key industry leaders, and maintains a history center in Ft. Atkinson, Wis.
The Membership Challenge, developed during National Dairy Shrine’s annual meeting, includes the following:
- All organizations that achieve greater than 90 percent Dairy Shrine membership will be recognized in the newsletter, the National Dairy Shrine Chronicle, and through National Dairy Shrine’s publicity efforts.
- A “friendly” competition between dairy groups will include category recognition (such as highest growth for a breed group or for a dairy supply business). Recognition will also be given for the largest percentage membership attainment for a business or organization. All winners will be recognized at the Dairy Shrine annual banquet during World Dairy Expo.
- All companies with a minimum of 10 employees that show an increase of 25 percent or more will be recognized in the Chronicle and in other publicity efforts.
